As New Jersey criminal defense attorney, I always have interesting cases, good stories to tell.
I recently represented a woman charged with simple assault and harassment in Parsippany-Troy Hills Municipal Court. My client is going through a divorce. She was driving down the highway and spied her husband's girlfriend driving next to her IN HER CAR! The husband had purchased the vehicle for my client/his wife and now it was being driven by his new girlfriend. This did not sit well with my client, who promptly gave the girlfriend a well-known finger gesture and proceeded to drive around and behind the woman for the next 20 miles.
The girlfriend drove to the Parsippany Police Department and ran inside to file a complaint against my client for harassment and simple assault. I was able to secure a "administrative carry" for the client. This means that the case is essentially postponed for 60 days. So long as there are no new incidents between the pair, the case will be dismissed at the end of the 60-day period. We can then immediately proceed with an expungement to erase this case from the client's record..
